The Al-Shabaab have attacked two police camps at Fino Ward, Mandera County at 1 a.m. this morning. Several police officers are feared dead.
According to Lafey Deputy County Commissioner Eric Oronyi, the attackers targeted Administration Police and reservists’ camps in the area. He further added that the attackers first trained their guns on a Safaricom mast in Lafey town. This served to disable communication between the officers and their bosses, before.
Meanwhile Fino MCA Saad Sheikh Ahmed reported the death of five officers amid fears planted explosives in the camps.
County AP Commander Suleiman Rashid said more officers had been sent to the scene.
