High Court Judge Louis Onguto has passed away.
The Secretary General of Kenya Judges and Magistrates Association, Derrick Kuto, confirmed that sad news. He said that the judge collapsed after a gym session at the Parklands Sports Club and was later declared dead at MP Shah Hospital.
This happens at a time when the Judiciary is under attack from the government in what many have termed, “fixing the judiciary.”
Lately, the High Court has notoriously been the last sentinel in Kenya’s Judicial system. Could Onguto’s death be one of those messages the State sends upright systems or was this just a normal departure?
