MP Charged with Assaulting Woman Rep

Wajir East Member Parliament Rashid Kassim Amin stoodaccused of assaulting Wajir Women Representative Fatima Gedi Ali within Parliament buildings.

June 13, 2019, at around mid-morning, at the Parliament Parking lot within Nairobi, the MP slapped fatima Gedi causing her bodily harm which equates to assault. What triggered this assault was the fact that the Budget committee, of which Gedi is a member, had allocated money to four Wajir constituencies but not to Wajir East.

The Mp denied the charges and through his lawyer asked to be released on free bond arguing that he presented himself to the police. However, the chief magistrate released him on a bond of Sh100,000 with one surety or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000. Hearing pushed to August
