Controversial lawyer Cliff Ombeta has not been licensed to practice law or represent anyone in Kenya’s courts of law. This is according to Law Society of Kenya (LSK) which is mandated to approve and license every lawyer in the land. On Thursday, lawyer Stephen Ongaro representing the LSK told Justice Jessie Lessit that they have been following closely on the Willie Kimani’s murder trial and Ombeta’s certificate had been withdrawn.
The lawyer, LSK says does not have enough LSK legal points to represent any client in court and that his license is no longer valid. Ombeta is one of the lawyers in the Willie Kimani murder case which has been dragged for months now, because of Ombeta’s absence in court.
Ombeta controversially took up the case and is representing the accused persons, who have been linked to the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani.
Last month, Ombeta yet again failed to appear in court for the mention of the murder trial where he represents three accused persons. Lat month, on July 13th, the lawyer failed to show up in court claiming he was unwell making the case to be adjourned once again. Sam Nyaber, Ometa’s lawyer claims the controversial lawyer in unwell but recovering.
