National assembly majority Leader Aden Duale is convinced that a referendum is looming and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.
In the same light thus, he has advised his bosom political ally Deputy President William Ruto to now divert his focus on premier position due to impending referendum.
Although the draft on impending changes is yet to come out, all indications are that the country could be headed for a Parliamentary system which will be headed by Prime Minister.
Ruto however has often dismissed plans to do away with the current presidential system.
On Sunday, Duale said he will lobby to ensure both President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto support the parliamentary system, a current view held by Raila Odinga.
After reports that Duale had broken ranks with Ruto, the Garrissa MP on Tuesday refuted the claims adding that Ruto was too strong a candidate to be abandoned.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s news night, he reiterated his earlier sentiments that if Ruto becomes the President then he would retire from active politics since Kenya would be in good hands.
Duale also claimed 2022 was about “two horses; William Ruto and Raila Odinga,” terming other as ‘jokers’ who must exist in every election. Watch him speak in the video below
